Device Status#
The Smart IoT Node has three different states. You need to use the magnet to change the status of the device.
Sleep#
When the device is on Sleep state, the device will communicate with AWS backend once in a week and transmits the State of Health (SOH) once in a week. When the data is received by AWS IoT core, it will check if there is a change in the device shadow config and download the new version. If you change the device configuration, you have to wait for a week if the device is in Sleep state before the new configuration is applied.
Status LED: No LED activity.
When you receive the box, the device is on sleep state state.
You can use the magnet to change the device state
Awake#
In the Awake state, the device will continuously take measurements and report values to AWS IoT core. By default measurement period is every hour and upload period is every 24 hours / 86400 seconds. The device will send both SOH and Data packets to AWS. In this state, the device also checks for firmware updates, monitor for user defined triggers and check for Magnet inputs.
Status LED: Green , blinks every 30 seconds
You can use the magnet to change the device state
Diagnostics#
In this state, the device sends the data to AWS IoT core every 3 minutes. To put the device into Diagnostics mode, the device needs to be in Awake state. After approximately 30 minutes, the device will return to its 'Awake' status automatically.
Status LED: Purple, blinks every 30 seconds
You can use the magnet to change the device state
Magnet#
Each box is packed with a magnet along with the Smart IoT Node. This magnet is required to change the status of the device.
Using the magnet#
The magnet is used to view the status of the device as well as to change the device status. The status LED will display the status. See Device Status for more details.
You can double tap or single tap the magnet on close to letter "L" in the "VIOTEL" label.
Double tap#
Double tap means hold the magnet for 1 second on top of the letter "L" in the "VIOTEL" label and remove it and hold it back again within 3 seconds on the same spot.
Single tap#
Single tap means hold the magnet for 1 second on top of the letter "L" in the "VIOTEL" label and remove it and hold it back again within 3 seconds on the same spot.
NOTE: Antenna must be connected to the device before changing the status of the device
